NATURAL SWIMMING POOL DESIGN SERVICES

Natural Swimming Pools

With the growing concerns that the world needs to be a greener place, natural swimming pools are the new and ecofriendly way to go swimming.

Natural swimming pools allow you to swim freely with no harmful chlorine or chemicals. Natural pools are custom designed to blend with your natural garden landscape providing clean natural water the way nature intended.

The main difference between a natural swimming pool and a conventional swimming pool is that there is no chemical used to create clean, clear water.

Natural swim pools works with nature and not against it, and the list of benefits are amazing.

If you have had the pleasure to swim in a fresh clean river/lake on a hot day, you would agree there is no better way to cool off. Why not have that same experience at you own place.

The project is designed individually to suit a client's needs, its design can be formal and complement the house or designed like nature's fresh water lakes to enhance your natural landscape garden surrounds.

With a natural swimming pool you are creating a thriving and living oasis. It's never dull, changing throughout the year with the change of seasons. Your children will be given an educational experience discovering nature at its best.

How natural swimming pools work.

A natural swimming pool harnesses natures' own processes to produce clean, clear water safe for everyday use.

Natural pools are

  1. An oasis in your backyard

  2. Environmentally friendly and people friendly

  3. Naturally clean, crystal clear water

  4. No harmful chlorine or chemicals

  5. Soft on the skin and hair

  6. Low maintenance

Natural swimming pools produce clean, fresh water without the addition of any chemicals.

They use naturally occurring micro-organisms as well as plants and mechanical filtration to produce clean, clear water. Natural pools mimic the biological "filter systems" you'd find in a natural stream and pool. As long as you create the right environment, nature (supported by pool system technology) will take care of the rest. Impurities like decomposing plants and bacteria are filtered out by plants and by a specially designed, multi-layered gravel filtration system within the water garden.

The water garden is where micro-organism's, microbes and water plants ensure effective and continuous cleaning of the water. The root system of the water plants in the regeneration zone absorb nutrients from the water that micro-organism's release during the decomposition of germs and organic substances.

The water flowing through reeds and roots is biologically and mechanically purified in the underlying substrate filter layers before it is returned to the swimming zone as crystal clear mineral rich water.

The swimming pool construction keeps the swimming and regeneration zones separate from each other so that you can swim unrestricted.

  1. Typically, for New Zealand conditions, two separate bodies of water are used. One is for swimming and the other is a regeneration zone for bio-filtration and aquatic plants, which consume nitrates produced by the micro-organisms.

  2. Water continually recirculates throughout the system using a low power pump which ensures the survival of the micro organisms.

  3. Natural swimming pools aim for a very low nutrient level in the recirculating system.
